What is the Friends of Fort DuPont?

The Friends of Fort DuPont is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based on the historic Fort DuPont campus in Delaware City, Delaware. We are dedicated to the preservation, revitalization, and cultural enrichment of Fort DuPont and the surrounding community.


What is your mission?

Our mission is to revitalize the Fort DuPont campus and Delaware City through community engagement, historic preservation, economic development, and arts and cultural events. We aim to support the local economy, protect natural and historic resources, and enhance quality of life through meaningful programming and partnerships.


When was Friends of Fort DuPont founded?

Our organization held its first official board meeting on September 16, 2024. Since that day, we’ve adopted by-laws, opened a bank account, appointed an interim board chair and treasurer, and officially began accepting community donations.


Who do you serve?

We serve Delaware City residents, local and regional artists, small business owners, visitors, and the Fort DuPont community. Our work supports economic revitalization, historic education, and cultural engagement for all.


What does Friends of Fort DuPont do?

We organize community events, promote historic education, support public art initiatives, protect natural and wildlife areas, and help local businesses connect with new audiences. From free concerts and nature walks to educational workshops and volunteer opportunities, we offer diverse ways for the community to get involved.
