The Friends of Fort DuPont
The Friends of Fort DuPont is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located on the Fort DuPont campus in Delaware City, DE. Our mission is to engage in community revitalization, preserve Fort DuPont’s resources, and economic development through arts and cultural enrichment.
The first official board meeting was held on September 16, 2024. During this meeting, by-laws were adopted, an interim board chairperson and treasurer were appointed, authorization for a bank account was granted, and the organization officially began collecting donations. Since then, the organization has continued to progress.
Although we are a young organization, we are committed to serving the residents of Delaware City and the broader community.
Our purpose is to preserve Fort DuPont’s historical natural beauty while revitalizing the local economy through community-focused arts, cultural events, supported by fundraising and volunteer efforts. We will achieve this by partnering with small businesses, hosting public events, conserving our wildlife areas, raising funds, providing volunteers, and fostering community engagement and artistic expression.
We aim to help the local community, including Delaware City residents, businesses, visitors, artists, and the staff and residents of Fort DuPont.
