🖊️ Sketching History at Fort DuPont with Urban Sketchers

Creativity Came to Life at Fort DuPont

On Sunday, June 15, Fort DuPont welcomed a group of artists for Sketch the Fort, hosted in partnership with Urban Sketchers Delaware.

Despite overcast skies and a quiet Father’s Day, the Fort came alive with creativity. The sound of pencils, pens, and focused conversation filled the air as participants explored the 215-acre campus with sketchbooks in hand.

Each artist chose a different view. Some captured historic buildings. Others focused on forgotten corners or sweeping perspectives. From brick walls to weathered windows, Fort DuPont’s charm was on full display.

The group was small but spirited. Throughout the afternoon, artists connected, laughed, and encouraged each other. The event created space for both concentration and community.

After sketching, everyone met back at the Pavilion to share their work. Each sketch received the official Urban Sketchers stamp, marking it as part of a global network of artists who document the world through drawing. Seeing the range of styles and interpretations was a perfect end to the day.

We’re excited to announce that Urban Sketchers Delaware will return this September. The next session will highlight the flora and fauna of Fort DuPont—offering new inspiration for our growing creative community.

🖼️ Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event a success. Stay tuned for details on the next Sketch the Fort!
