Upcoming Volunteer Morning at Fort DuPont

Friends of Fort DuPont invites volunteers to join a special preservation work morning on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Volunteers will meet at 2950 Old Hospital Rd before heading to project areas for the day’s work.

This Fort DuPont volunteer opportunity is ideal for anyone looking for a short but meaningful service project. All skill levels are welcome, and volunteers will be supported with tools, safety equipment, water, and refreshments.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to support preservation work at two important historic sites at Fort DuPont.

Hospital/POW Barracks

The Hospital/POW Barracks is the Fort’s last remaining World War II era temporary barracks. Volunteers at this site will help support ongoing preservation efforts at a structure that reflects an important chapter in Fort DuPont’s military history.

Radio/POW Guard Tower

Volunteers may also assist at the Radio/POW Guard Tower, a rare historic structure located near the barracks. Preservation work at this site helps protect another significant piece of the Fort’s historic landscape.

What Volunteers Will Do

This volunteer morning will focus on light preservation work that helps care for these historic places and improve their condition. Activities may include identifying artifacts, removing debris, helping improve site access, and assisting with other basic preservation tasks as needed.
